Thanksgiving is a complicated holiday for Indigenous people, as are most American holidays that tend to celebrate and glorify colonialism and the genocide of our people. But this Thanksgiving, NativeFlix offered up an episode of Space Trek that gives us a glance of an alter-NATIVE universe.

In Space Trek, a Star Trek parody from Caution: May Contain Nuts, the Captain and his crew are able travel to early North American by “slingshotting the ship around the sun or irradiating the dilithium chamber with Chronotons or some other bullsh*t explanation”. It is here that they happen upon a treaty signing between the Natives and Settlers. Ignoring the prime directive of not interfering with the cultures that they encounter, the Captain steps in and changes the course of the future.
