It’s A “Hometown Throwdown” for the Theatrical Release of ‘Fishing Naked’

Finishing touches are complete at the Lyric Cinema Café in Fort Collins, Colorado (FoCo) by Red Phone and TD&S Media for tonight’s first stop on what will be over twenty five cities of FISHING NAKED’s US theatrical release. New Belgium Brewery who supplied the production with wardrobe and as much adult beverage as was needed for props and the wrap party by the production is sponsoring the event and much of the tour. This first event is being billed as more of a party that happens to be showing the film for the first time than a traditional premiere.

Fishing Naked is a modern comedy packed with pranks and romantic entanglements. When a series of Bigfoot hoaxes gets out of hand, hormones and hilarity ensue. Two fly fisherman buddies, David and Rodney (Twilight’s Bronson Pelletier and TV pinup Evan Williams), simply want to scare tourists away from their idyllic fly-fishing paradise. But they stumble upon two gorgeous hippie chicks (Elyse Levesque from Stargate Universe and Twilight’s Tinsel Korey) and the four of them propel the gags to the next level. From Bigfoot suits and YouTube pranks to a giant fake UFO, their hoaxes start to get noticed and unwanted attention rapidly increases. As TV crews, the FBI, and even an extraterrestrial visitor descend upon their pristine mountain community, these pranksters are quick to respond—they all get stoned. The cast is rounded out by loveably stoic Grandma Ottertale (Northern Exposure’s Elaine Miles) and her sheriff boyfriend (Steve Reevis, Fargo).

“We have been overwhelmed by the traction we are gaining online. The film hasn’t been released yet and we already have roughly seventy thousand Facebook fans and over three quarters of a million views of our various trailers world wide. There are a lot of people around the world who want to see this film”, says Director, Pete Coogan.

“Of course the pedigree of our actors doesn’t hurt but there seems to be more to it than that. I think people are excited to see a great comedy about rural communities with a different way of presenting their world than Hollywood typically does. We don’t make fun of the rural culture because the people who made this film grew up in it. I think that laid back attitude permeates the film and is going to resonate with a lot of people around the world. But with that said, I can’t imagine a better place than a funky town like FoCo to screen our funky film.”
