October 19th was a busy day for Star Wars Fans.

First, the ridiculous #boycottStarWarsV11 discussion broke the internet as the troll brigade came spilling out from under their bridges to mock discussions of Hollywood racism. Over the last few months, with the release of films like Eli Roth’s Green Inferno and Warner Bros. Pan, there have been calls to boycott for their blatantly racist portrayals and treatment of Indigenous people and cultures. So, it’s not surprising that these trolls armed with their privilege and endless supply of douchebaggery took aim at these discussions by targeting Star Wars for the crime of diversity.

Using the hashtags, #boycottStarWarsV11 and #WhiteGenocide, they voiced their anger towards J.J. Abrams for casting the incredibly talented John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Crystal Clarke, and Oscar Isaac, who all happen to be POC. Apparently, they forgot that casting POC  in the Star Wars franchise is not a new occurrence. Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), James Earl Jones (voice of Darth Vader), and Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu) all played iconic roles within the Star Wars universe and all happen to be black men. Femi Taylor, Tony Cox, and Ahmed Best are just a few other actors within the Star Wars franchise that happen to be POC.

The inclusivity and diversity of the Star Wars universe is why it continues to be such a beloved worldwide phenomenon. Young, old, white, black, native…..it doesn’t matter and it never has because the Force is strong with us and it unites us as geeks and as human beings. If there’s anything that the last 38 years of Star Wars has taught us, it’s that the Sith will never be victorious. So, the clueless trolls trying to infect the franchise with their hate and white supremacy should just stop because the dark side never wins. This was made even more evident as fans from around the world united against their hate.

But this was not the only reason that Star Wars was making headlines. Last night, a FULL trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was FINALLY released during Monday Night Football. After two teaser trailers that left fans in complete agony and with a heart bursting with uncontainable glee, we finally got a full trailer and it did not disappoint! Check it out and let us know what you think on Twitter and Facebook.
